In addition to our most noticable program - adoptions - MetroWest has a number of programs to care for cats in a variety of other ways. Some benefit the cats already at the shelter, some help those who are living outside, and some help the caregivers of the animals not at the shelter.
The MetroWest Humane Society has a community outreach program for people who need assistance to adequately feed the cats in their care.Foster Care Program
Our foster care providers are pre-screened volunteers who take cats and/or kittens into their homes after they have had their initial medical evaluation.Love and Learn Program
The purpose of our on-going special "Love and Learn " adoption campaign is to urge people to adopt pets who may seem less adoptable simply because of the way they look, their age, they are shy, or because they have a medical condition such as FIV or diabetes.Socialization Program
We have a group of dedicated volunteers who provide one-on-one socialization to help our less trusting and socialized cats.Spay Neuter Assistance
This is a subsidized service for clients in financial need who might otherwise be unable to afford this important spay/neuter service for their pets.Sponsor-A-Cage
For a variety of reasons some of the cats in our care may never have the opportunity to experience a home of their own. When they have a cage sponsor, they receive love and compassion so they know they are not unwanted.Trapping & TNR
MWHS is one of the few shelters that provides this highly sought-after service. Over 50% of the calls to the shelter relate to feral cats and kittens.
